How to Care

Yachimun Pottery: Highly absorbent. We recommend seasoning before use. Please read "How to Reduce Pottery Stain" for more details. Avoid microwave, dishwasher, and dryers. Do not use direct flame or ovens. Clean promptly and air dry thoroughly before storing.

Ryukyu Glass: Not heat-resistant. Avoid sudden temperature changes, dishwashers, and freezers. Do not use abrasive cleaners or store sharp utensils. Clean promptly and air dry before storing.

Bingata: The dyed sections of Bingata coasters are delicate and prone to friction. Hand wash them gently with a neutral detergent, avoiding any rubbing. Do not wring them out. Air dry them in the shade. Once they're dry, iron them from the reverse side. Please refrain from using bleach or dry cleaning.

Jewelry: Delicate and handcrafted. We recommend removing before bathing, exercising, or sleeping. Avoid strong impact, pulling, or pressure, which may cause damage. Handle gently during wear and storage. Metal parts may discolor over time due to air exposure. After use, lightly wipe with a soft cloth to remove moisture and oils. For best results, store in a sealed pouch or jewelry box away from humidity and direct sunlight.

How to Reduce Pottery Stain

For first-time use, we recommend “seasoning” the pottery to help reduce staining. Pottery is absorbent and can easily soak up tea, oil, and pigments. By coating the surface with starch, the pottery becomes less prone to absorbing these elements.

Seasoning Method:

  1. Fill a pot with rice water (or flour-mixed water) to cover the pottery. Make sure not to stack the pottery as vibrations can cause breakage.
  2. Boil on low heat for about 20 minutes. Do not over-boil as vibrations may cause the pottery to crack.
  3. Let it cool in the pot, then wash and air dry the pottery.

Bear in mind the pottery might still crack during this process. Make sure to keep each piece separate and heat gently.
