IKUTOUEN

Ikutouen is a renowned kiln in Tsuboya, Naha, Okinawa, with a history of about 300 years. Led by sixth-generation master potter and Japanese Traditional Craftsman, Tadashi Takaesu, the family's legacy continues. The name "Ikutouen" embodies the hope that both people and pottery will grow and thrive.

Ikutouen uses local Okinawan materials and traditional techniques passed down through generations. Their signature Karakusa senbori (carving vine and floral pattern) is one of a kind, taking your breath away as they directly carve delicate curves and lines without any preliminary sketches. While preserving these traditions, they innovate to create pottery that fits modern lifestyles, continually bringing a new dimension to Tsuboya pottery.
