GLASS FOREST CHA CHA

Satoko Kajikawa, the creative force behind Glass Forest Studio Cha-Cha, grew up in Saitama. Her first visit to Okinawa as a high school student left a lasting impression with its pristine sea, tranquil island vibes, vibrant flowers, and rustic stone walls.

Satoko's passion for glass began in university, where she discovered the captivating movements of molten glass. After graduating, she was drawn to Okinawa and joined a glass studio in Yomitan Village, where she refined her skills in Ryukyu glass.

Her life in Okinawa was surrounded by the blue sea, green sugarcane fields, red-tiled roofs, and colorful landscapes, all of which inspire her creations. Though she has returned to Saitama, her heart remains in Okinawa, and she strives to blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistry to capture the serene beauty and vibrant life of the island.

In Ryukyu glass tradition, it is customary to stamp the bottom of each glass piece with the studio's emblem. The studio embraces this practice, and you can find their cute mascot, Chachamaru the squirrel, adding a heartwarming touch to each piece.
