NOMO TOUKI
Born in 1980 in Saitama Prefecture, Shu Nomoto set out in 2001 to become a craftsman in the traditional Okinawan pottery world of "Yachimun." Mentored by Toshiyuki Kinjo, nephew of the Living National Treasure Jiro Kinjo, he built his home and kiln in Yomitan Village in 2009.
Shu's works are distinguished by their bold colors and unique sense of design, blending traditional Yachimun glazes like green "Augusaya," cobalt, and gosu (a traditional blue glaze) with his own artistic expression. He aims to create versatile tableware that seamlessly fits both Japanese and Western dining settings. Each piece carries a relaxed and generous atmosphere, bringing warmth and authenticity to any dining experience.
