TAKAESU TOJIKI

Takesu Hiroshi, born and raised in Okinawa, spent his school days playing sports. It was only in his senior year of high school that he decided to attend the Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, where he developed a deep appreciation for pottery and folk art. He furthered his education at the graduate school at Kanazawa College of Arts, immersing himself in both local and modern art. After spending ten years refining his pottery skills, Hiroshi returned to Okinawa in 2005 to establish his own pottery practice alongside his wife. His signature Tenuchi (Dot) Series is particularly notable, featuring playful blue dots in combination with Karakusa patterns (vine and floral designs), symbolizing longevity and prosperity. This series reflects a modern approach with vibrant pops of color, blending traditional and contemporary influences.
