Toshiya Nakanishi is a shy craftsman, born in Osaka in 1961. He moved to Okinawa in 1993 and began training at the Naha City Traditional Crafts Center in 1994. He joined the Chinen Bingata Research Institute in 1995. Since 2004, he has been creating artworks from his home studio. He has received the Design Award at the Okinawa Prefectural Crafts Exhibition twice, in 2005 and 2007. His motto is: "I hope to create fun works with vibrant colors."
